Falling Water Wellness
& Meditation Center

Under new management, the Falling Water Temple and Dojo has been remodeled as a wellness center for those in need of a peaceful oasis in the noise of the city. Within what was once a dojo can now be found a yoga studio with private meditation rooms and a meeting space where weekly trauma and mental health support groups are held. The center offers information about mindfulness techniques, yoga classes, and one-on-one guided mindfulness meditation sessions by appointment. After a different kind of self-guided therapy? The basement has been converted to a sound-proofed rage room built and tested by superhero types. While the shrine is still being maintained and are available to visit, the surrounding garden has been expanded into a Japanese-style meditation garden, complete with a waterfall fixture that the dedicated can meditate underneath and space to do your yoga outside. With an adjacent nondenominational prayer room, the center welcomes the spiritually minded after private contemplation.

Seeking:

Mindfulness Center
Struggling with your mental health and looking for tools for self-guided mindfulness? By the front desk is a display of pamphlets covering all manner of techniques and concerns. Guides to mindfulness practice, meditation, breathing exercises, clean eating, understanding trauma, understanding stress, mind-body connection, quick technique prompts, and various other topics. Some were written by Jeanne-Marie herself, drawing from her extensive experience on the receiving end of therapies. Some she found online and had printed, though those may also have the odd sexual activity in there that she missed–this is Duplicity after all.
Yoga Studio & Meditation Space
The main space of the dojo has been converted into a yoga studio and meditation space, with a large main room for classes and open-floor group use, with smaller side alcoves for private practice and one-on-one guided mindfulness meditation sessions. Some of these smaller rooms can be rented out for massages when massage therapists are available for appointments.
Weekly Support Group
In the back is a larger room with chairs, which can be rented out for meetings and community events. Once a week, a volunteer-led support group is held. Much like Alcoholics Anonymous, the program is designed not to be led by a psychiatric professional (though professionals are welcome) but to be an open, non-judgmental place for people who have struggled with trauma and poor mental health to meet and talk about their struggles. No one is obligated to speak, but everyone is welcome to listen.
The Shrine
The Shinto shrine itself remains untouched, just as it was under previous management. The shrine is an enriched environment where one can feel deeply refreshed and renewed. The Shrine staff can conduct the Oharae (purification ceremony) as well as many types of ceremonies for individuals, families, groups or businesses. There is also the opportunity for Misogi ShuHo (purification in the Mountain Stream).

Omamori are "yearly protective amulets" imbued with good luck, protective power, blessings. Each Omamori represents a different kind of protection, and is additionally purified in the Heiden (Hall of Offerings) of the Falling Water Temple and Dojo before being available for purchase. If you would like to purchase Omamori (Amulets) stop by the Mindfulness Center desk, where these can be purchased.

Aside from the Shinto shrine being maintained, a nondenominational prayer room has been designated to the furthest room in the back of the building, looking onto the garden and away from any noise. This nondenominational prayer room is a place to escape for solo prayer, when one wants time alone with their thoughts and their God, rather than going to the public space of the Lay on Hands Ministry.
Meditation Garden
[ UNDER RENOVATION ]

While the shrine is still being maintained and is available to visit, the surrounding garden has been expanded into a japanese-style meditation garden. Complete with waterfall fixtures that the dedicated can meditate underneath, a relaxing koi pond and natural wood paneling for doing yoga outside. The meditation garden is designed to promote peace and oneness with nature.
Rage Room
Tucked into the basement, sound proofed and designed with mutants in mind, is the Ups own Rage Room. It’s no Danger Room that can take a real mutant beating, but for a small fee anyone is welcome to tuck in and break stuff; releasing all that rage can be its own form of therapy. Donations are always welcome for any breakable scrap no longer wanted.
