FAQ: AURORA OR JEANNE-MARIE?

CONTENT WARNING: SEVERE MENTAL ILLNESS, SUICIDE, SELF-HARM


One of the most difficult things about playing Jeanne-Marie (both practically and emotionally) is handling her poor mental health. I made this page for a clear explanation of what to expect, and as a space to ask questions or opt out of CR with her.

THE FACTS:
☆ Jeanne-Marie canonically has dissociative identity disorder, and her primarily alter's name is Aurora. She does theoretically have more alters than just Aurora, but let's not worry about them for now.
☆ Jeanne-Marie is mild-mannered, kinder, wiser, but sometimes prudish and judgemental. Her kinks tend towards DDLG and Humiliation/Punishment to tickle her Catholic Guilt with well discussed consent, safewords, and aftercare.
☆ Jeanne-Marie will USUALLY refer to herself as Jeanne-Marie, and Aurora as Aurora.
☆ Aurora is extroverted, slutty, and sometimes mean. She was formed as a protective rebellion for all of JMs guilty desires as a teenager, and there's no curing her, only coping with her. Aurora's kinks range from CNC and Rough Play to being a humiliation femdom herself, and is a lot less concerned about consent, safewords, or aftercare.
☆ Aurora will USUALLY refer to herself as Aurora, and Jeanne-Marie as Jeanne-Marie, but tends to not refer to JM at all.
☆ A good way to tell the difference between the two of them is the way they dress, with Jeanne-Marie dressing like a school teacher, and Aurora like a slutty fashion queen. Aurora also has a thicker French-Canadian accent, because her whole existence is a caricature.
☆ THIS IS WHERE IT GETS COMPLICATED: Aurora is also her superhero codename, so when referring to herself as a superhero, they will BOTH use Aurora.
☆ They will BOTH also respond to either name and may not correct someone who doesn't know better.
☆ To make matters even more complicated, Jeanne-Marie does not like to draw attention to her poor mental health, and will be trying to keep it a secret as long as she can from as many people as she can. Aurora does not care to inform people either, but is less fussy about people knowing. THIS WILL CAUSE CONFUSION. PLEASE BE AWARE.
☆ Jeanne-Marie often loses time when Aurora is in charge and MAY NOT REMEMBER WHAT SHE SAID OR DID, OR WITH WHO. Aurora DOES NOT lose time when Jeanne-Marie is in charge.
☆ Jeanne-Marie has been well medicated and in therapy for a while now. THIS WILL NOT BE THE CASE IN DUPLICITY, because Erik put the fear of Duplicity-Meds in her. THIS IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE, but at present she will need serious convincing to go back on medication the longer she's off of it.
☆ Jeanne-Marie also has a history of BEING SUICIDAL. She hasn't been suicidal for a long time, but she's off her meds and Dup is a hellscape, so who knows. If going anywhere near this is a hard no for you, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.


THE PLAN:
☆ Please pay attention to the narration! Jeanne-Marie will always be referred to as Jeanne-Marie by the narration, and Aurora will always be referred to as Aurora by the narration, even if they introduce themselves differently, and even if they do not correct the other character.
☆ I am tracking their CR as if they are two different characters. If you're ever unsure, please take a look at my thread tracker. The numbers next to each thread indicates what number interaction this is. The first number in the brackets is Jeanne-Marie, the second is Aurora, the bolded one is the alter active in that thread. I.e. (1/2) means this thread is the first with Jeanne-Marie, and there have also been 2 with Aurora. The stars indicate important CR or CR with over 10 threads. ⭐ is Jeanne-Marie, ★ is Aurora.
